Robinhood Markets is expanding its prediction market operations through a partnership with Crypto.com and its newly established independent derivatives platform, OG.com, adding another venue to its growing event contract business.
Under the agreement, Robinhood will route a portion of its football prediction contract trades to OG.com’s derivatives exchange and clearinghouse, which are regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The initial contracts are expected to launch ahead of the new professional football season.
OG.com joins Kalshi, ForecastEX, and Rothera as a venue hosting Robinhood’s event contracts. Robinhood stated that contracts will be distributed across these exchanges based on various factors, including venue availability.
JB Mackenzie, Vice President and General Manager of Futures and Prediction Markets at Robinhood, said, “Routing event contracts to multiple venues helps create a more robust, diversified, and resilient market.”
As part of the partnership, Robinhood will acquire equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com. The pricing for these stakes aligns with Citadel Securities’ recent investment in Crypto.com Group, which valued the company at $2 billion. Additionally, the deal values OG.com at $500 million, in line with plans to spin it off as an independent trading platform.
This partnership comes as prediction markets play an increasingly important role in Robinhood’s business. In the second quarter, customers traded a record 1.36 billion event contracts, generating record revenue of $15.6 billion from these products.
More than 5 billion contracts changed hands during the FIFA World Cup alone, and customers have traded over 45 billion prediction market contracts since the business launched two years ago. Contract volume has exceeded 30 billion so far this year through August.
Robinhood is also expanding its prediction market offerings by adding real-time data and a dedicated platform for football contract trading. The company is preparing to launch a standalone trading platform for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections—covering both state and federal races—with some contracts potentially routed to Crypto.com and OG.com.
Prediction markets offer “Yes” or “No” contracts based on the outcomes of sports, political, and economic events. Proponents argue that these markets embody the “wisdom of the crowd,” while critics liken them to gambling. Regulators have also intensified their scrutiny of such products, citing concerns over potential insider trading.
These markets gained mainstream attention during the 2024 U.S. presidential election and have attracted strong demand during major sporting events.
Robinhood’s foray into prediction markets coincides with increasing activity in its digital assets business. Robinhood Chain recently set a record for 24-hour decentralized trading volume, reaching $133 million, driven largely by a resurgence in retail speculation on meme coins and growing interest in tokenized assets.
